From the fertile hills of Shizuoka, First Leaves brings you Japans most exquisite green tea, Yabukita. We choose only the prized tender leaves of the first flush – the first spring harvest – richest in vitamins, polyphenols and flavorful amino acids.
How to brew: first, heat water to no more than 175°F (If you boil the water, add water to cool before brewing – Don’t add green tea to boiling water. It’s bad for catechins, the healthy chemicals, in the tea.) Add one teaspoon of tea to 6-8 oz of water for one cup of tea, and steep for 30-40 seconds, then breathe in the aroma, savor the taste, relax into tranquility.
For iced tea, steep in 6-8 oz of ice water for 5 minutes. The use of filtered water is highly recommended. Use up to three times for full flavor. Keep stored in the canister for best retention of flavor.
Makes approximately eight full pots of tea (6 teacups) at the recommended ratio of tea leaves to water. There is no need to grind down the loose leaf tea any further; use as is for the best results.
Green tea has many proven health benefits. Add lemon to your prepared tea. Vitamin C makes the catechins a easier to absorb. Dairy, on the other hand, makes it harder to absorb them.
