ORIGIN: The name, “Sencha,” is commonly used to describe Japanese green teas. However, this is a Chinese variety of Sencha – a type of green tea that comes from tea plants grown in direct sunlight. The leaves, after being harvested, are steamed to retain maximum freshness.
ABOUT: China Sencha tea offers a mild, delicate, and slightly grassy flavour. It is known for its refreshing and vegetal taste with subtle hints of sweetness. The steaming process used in its production helps preserve the tea’s vibrant green colour.
BENEFITS: Green teas, including China Sencha, contain high levels of antioxidants, particularly catechins. The caffeine levels are generally lower than those of black teas therefore its a perfect drink for the evening.
USES: This tea is often enjoyed plain, without any additives. It is suitable for both casual sipping and more formal tea ceremonies. You may also enjoy it iced during hot weather.
BREWING: Allow 1- 1½ teaspoon per cup. Boil the water and wait for about 2 minutes before pouring it onto the leaves. Steep for 2 minutes.
